LINUX PIPELINE NEWSLETTER
Tuesday December 23, 2003

Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! The Best of New Years to All!

Let's hope the new year brings an end to SCO's attempts to earn
its daily bread through pointless litigation, the continued rise
of Linux's server market share, and a Linux-desktop GUI
breakthrough that proves to be an order-of-magnitude improvement
for Linux usability and configurability -- making for less
expensive training and IT support costs.

While we're at it, let's hope for the continued rapid growth of
open-source-based enterprise applications, and a year of marked
innovation and emphasis on mainstream business desktop apps for
Linux PCs. Did I miss anything?

Linux Pipeline Newsletter will be off next week for the holidays,
but will return on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.

3. TRENDS: Q&A With Darl McBride And Chris Sontag Of SCO Group
SCO Group CEO Darl McBride and Senior Vice President Chris
Sontag recently met with CRN Industry Editor Barbara Darrow
to discuss a variety of topics related to SCO's suit against
IBM and an unnamed Enterprise Linux User. The SCO-IBM case
IS slated to hit a Utah courtroom in 18 months. Earlier this
month, a Utah judge ruled that SCO must show the code at
issue in this case within 30 days. Open-source advocates
have maintained that SCO has no case. SCO says IBM violated
     its contract.
