This week, we tested six antivirus products. All of the vendors are
improving their outbreak management policy distribution, but Trend
Micro
came out on top. On a related note, our editor's hot white paper pick
also discusses antivirus products. Plus, test your knowledge of
securing
the edge of your network with our latest TechQuiz.

As always, please feel free to message us directly if you have any
comments or questions (mailto:newsletter@nwc.com).

Best regards,

10) Current Forum Threads

a) Ask the Experts: ICS on Windows XP
I am trying to set up ICS between four computers (two Windows XP and
two
Windows 98 machines), one of which is running XP and has a Direcway USB
connection to the Internet. There is no sharing tab when I follow the
setup instructions. The XP machines are members of an NT domain. Where
do I start?

b) Ask the Experts: SMTP Clusters in Windows 2000 Pro
We currently have 12 desktop systems running Windows 2000 Pro and eight
servers running Windows 2000 server. I would like to use the desktops
to
send SMTP messages in a cluster--only six of the servers are currently
being used. If it would help at all, I could use one or two of them
along with all the desktops. Can anyone advise me on a good tutorial or
give any pointers on how to set this up?

12) The Daily Blog: Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam...
------------------------------------------------------------
We all hate spam, but have you ever stopped to consider just how little
we know about it? We focus so much on the hows and whys of bayesian
filters and spamtraps that we sometimes fail to ask the really big
questions, like "how many spammers are there, really?" or "can spam
bring down the Internet?"
